Well, going through the fall seeds I have, I thought I'd list them and see if anyone had any advice on which to put in the beds and which to put in the cold frames. I'll get the dirt this next week.
Then I have herbs to transplant into the raised beds, and tomatoes to move just in case they could go ahead and develop. So what else do I need? lol I think carrots and onions and lettuce and spinach in the cold frames. Collards won't need the frames nor should the beets or turnips.
I can't get my mind round anything else - except maybe the laptop the power outage fried and all my pictures that were on it. I'm really striving for oblivion here... yep... oblivion.
He's putting together an estimate on all the little odd jobs and he's always done so well by us Steve said we can have him do what I need done.
Patch the ceiling and fill the chinks in the sheetrock
build 6 shelves at the back of the hall and the perimeter of the kitchen (along the ceiling for cookbooks)
enhance the cat run and put in a bigger pet door and 2 more ledges for the kitties
replace the caulk on the tub and finish installing the fixtures and retiling
build a mantle for the living room and finish off the fire place
build the raised beds and a cold frame
frame in beds outside the front door on either side of the steps
install doors to the laundry area and the master closet
replace Geoffie's bedroom door
sink the posts for a formal compost pile
put an extender on the fawcet so I can turn on the water without climbing under the porch.
When we have the dirt brought in, we will also get a load of rock and build my little water area in the back yard. So it's not landscaped. It is however going to be usable and wonderful. When I was talking to him about the cold frame he said how he'd once been interested in having one and he started laughing at himself for how elaborate he planned it. He said he never did make it. He's gonna do some research for how much dirt area to give it and how to weight the lid so it will be easier to handle. - I started to say don't bother, but remembered my hands and thought it would be better to plan it well than for Geoffie to find me headless 'cause I dropped the door. Can you hear him? "yeah, my mom was a gardener back along when I was 12...." lol I am gonna have a fall and winter garden! YAHHOOOOO!!! My herbs are gonna have a home!
oh, this reminded me - we need to get the pressure washer.
Oh my Goddess I am filthy. LOL I am also wet! It's been threatening to rain all afternoon and has off and on. It's finally pouring. I had to come inside. I got half of the herbs planted and the rain will soak my clay pots again. I'm thinking the potting soil I chose is probably well suited for clay and a few of the plants like peppers need drier toes...so I'll do a bit of re-potting tomorrow too. I went through the herbs I grew from seeds and am certain a couple of the marshmallow sprouted. I have two tiny feathery herbs I can't remember planting, and only two came up and they are very fragile. I put them in their own pot and will do a bit of identifying when they are bigger. It's always fun to figure out the herbs.
Geoffie and I moved the fountain up onto the porch and put a new pump on it. We got 3 small Koi for it. If the racoon comes up and makes them dinner, we will stock it with feeder goldfish next time! It's really nice to sit out there. We have the wind chimes, the tiki torches, the fountains, the plants... The rain is good, but we need to spread it out!
We got Steve the Troy-Built Weed eater that has a 4 cylinder engine and attachments! There is the weed eater, a tiller, a chain saw, a trimmer - it's cool. We got the wheelbarow he wanted. He got his belt and shorts and movie too. He was much better today. I never said a word about the huge pile of brush he has piled exactly where I want my herb bed. It would not have been a smart wife thing to make any comment after how hard he worked.
Right now, There is thunder, it's pouring rain and the sun had been shining for 15 minutes.
Guess I'll run up and get in the shower. I think I'm out of gas today.
I counted and I think I have about 60 pots I can use. That should be enough. I'll fill a good number with soil tomorrow morning. Soak the clay ones... The rest of the afternoon I will be researching lighting. You know what I found so appealing this morning? As I went through the pots and dumped the old dirt, those that had been smack on the ground were filled with earth worms. 5 or 6 minimum in each pot. What a cool discovery. They went up the holes in the bottom of the containers. I gathered worms. Steve said that should say something big about a person but we couldn't figure out what! lol
Later I was sitting on the front porch and this worm came crawling fast (as he could) across the shaded sidewalk right toward me. A small orange, ratty winged butterfly landed on my ankle. I watched these creatures and Geoffie came around the corner and said wow mommy, everything likes you. I am definitely at home outside. I wish sometimes the body matched the desire. I was thinking about Mexico and how I will be who and what I am. There is no pretending stamina. We have a Cardio Twister coming soon. I have to use it for it to make a difference. LOL I got it because Geoffie asked for it. I hope I can use it.
So I'm off to go do a bit before the day gets too hot. They say 100 degrees is probable. OUCH. I am not a fan of early heat. Steve moved my potting soil and I can't find it! lol Got things to do. Love and hugs...
I was looking through email I haven't gotten to and found another gift....
Rock Your World With The Divine Mother by Sondra Ray Posted by: DailyOM
The Prime Creator or Original Spark of Creation is a feminine aspect. Therefore the Divine Mother is Supreme. She is beyond everything. Beyond the Beyond. In India they say that there is nothing higher than worship of the Divine Mother. The great Saint Sri Aurobindo said that surrender to the Divine Mother is the final stage of perfection.
When we talk about the Divine Mother we are referring to the Intelligence behind matter. Einstein was tapped into that. The Divine Mother as the Supreme Deity is the source of all knowledge. All the male gurus I admire so much in India know this. It is the secret of their power. We are talking about true power here: Love, safety and certainty, not ego power with its domination, control, and anger.
When people surrender to the Divine Mother extraordinary changes take place. When you explore the Goddess energy, you truly value life! The essence of the life force (Shakti) cannot be controlled. The Divine Mother as kundalini will clean you out. She is the true release from delusion. With Her, your old personality is replaced by miracle consciousness.
The greater your devotion to her, the faster your progress! It is due to her we can achieve true happiness. It is due to her transcendent nature and personification of intelligence that matter is created. Everything we possess is a gift from the Mother. When we surrender to Her, the intelligence of the whole universe is our teacher. We get the urge to bring forth the inexpressible into manifestation. We remember the ecstasy of being alive! Our bodies can become instruments through which the feminine aspect plays.
Tapping into the Divine Mother in a balanced way can produce regeneration, restoration and renewal. During these crucial times ahead, everything must be taken to the next level where new paradigms are needed. The Divine Mother Vibration needs to be emphasized now like never before, since we can see by our results in the world how out of balance we actually are. The sacred feminine has been so suppressed for so long that we have lost touch with our true essence.
In each of us there is a masculine side and a feminine side. The model of the universe in which a male God rules the cosmos serves to legitimize male control in social institutions. But we cannot merely reject the system that is not working. It must be replaced. Nor would it work to replace the system with a Matriarchy.
Historically, peace was produced when men and women ruled together as equals, worshipping the Divine Mother together. No one dominated anyone.
The way of the Goddess is one of natural Law and Wisdom. When people object to this, thinking that the Goddess is pagan, heathen and so on, they miss the fact that her influence is regenerative, life enhancing and extremely beneficial. When everything is stuck, only she is moving. When necessary, the Divine Mother transforms into Kali, the Hindu Goddess of destruction, and with her force, consumes and devours everything not pure. Those who lay their consciousness at her feet and trust her unconditionally will realize her form as Jagadambe, Mother of the world, who gives birth and life to the whole universe. In her ultimate love for her creation, she is the ultimate source of help. When we surrender to Her, we surrender to the Universe that knows what it is doing!
The Goddess is love combined with power. She is the part of ourselves that is nurturing; that shows kindness, tenderness, cooperation, and encouragement. She softens our heart. When we chose communion with both the feminine and masculine aspects of God, we will finally know peace and joy unbounded and love fully expressed. The more balanced we are, the deeper our relationships can be to our fellow human beings.
In India they say that only the Divine Mother can grant the "boon" (reward) of Physical Immortality. Wouldn¹t you like to transcend aging, disease, disintegration and even the death of your body? The Mother can grant this transfiguration. It IS possible to restore our body to the original Divine Blueprint and perfection of Divine Self. One can ascend out of a distorted pain-racked body into a radiant physical body! At this very moment, your life is reflecting what you believe to be true about yourself.
When my Master Babaji consciously left his body, the last thing he said was "I leave everything in the hands of the Divine Mother." I had no idea at the time what that meant or why he said it. After all I was raised in a very patriarchal Lutheran Church and we did not even have the Virgin Mary!
I decided I better find out why he said that so I set out on a mission to understand the Divine Mother. This led me to many places and many marvelous experiences miracles I never dreamed possible and changes in my life that were so magnificent that I could not even talk about them sometimes until a year or more after they happened.
The Divine Mother is available to YOU. You can manifest limitless physical perfection through every cell and organ of your body. You are being given the awesome privilege of assisting humanity through this birthing process. Let go of your old obsolete belief systems. Let the Divine Life Force roar through you!
Oh Divine Mother. Let my every action Be a Worship of You Let every sound falling from my lips Be a chant of your great mantra

I played in the bookstore for 3 hours! I can't believe I let myself do it. I had a honey cinnamon latte from Starbucks (good enough for sweet what, coffee?) and they gave me a small loaf cake at no charge. I carried this thing around all afternoon! Everyone ought to shop with cake in their handbag, just once. LOL
I got a couple of drawing books. While I did get my rounded lady body drawn, she has no feet, no head, no lower arms or hands...lol she's kind of lacking. I bought a book called How To Do Everything with Digital Cameras, Montel Williams book i've wanted called Living Well was 30% off, I got 2 books by WB Yeats, Mythologies and The Collected Poems of I also picked up Edible Wild Plants, Medicinal Herbs, Sacred Land, and The Curious Gardener's Almanac, and Southern Herb Growing. I used the gift card I got from work and only really paid for 2 books! It was fun. Now to read them! Oh, when Borders send you emails, read them! Sometimes you can get 20% off your entire purchase if you spend enough! lol
so...now that I'm home and have the rest of the day to enjoy my loot - I thought I'd share a few tidbits with you.

Everyday Tip from Today in my Garden
If you haven't already done so, sketch a simple map of your garden noting the areas that receive full sun, a mix of sun and shade, or full shade. Knowing this is invaluable to selecting the right plant for the right spot.

If you want to be happy for a day, get drunk
For a week, kill a pig
For a month, get married
For life, be a gardener

In days gone by, It was not uncommon in springtime to see a farmer drop his trousers and pants and sit down on the soil. If the soil was not too cold, the farmer knew it was time to sow his crop. If you want to avoid misunderstandings with your neighbors, you are better trying this trick with your bare elbow.
